Narcissus Gallery

Narcissus Gallery is a collaboration project between Akira (@AkiraReloaded) and Giannis Sourdis (@Ioannis_AG) via his M0NA project (@MuseumOfNFTArt) representing their combined extensive NFT collections of over 2000 pieces. Narcissus was created after years of on-going partnership between the two in the blockchain/NFT space. The gallery has a distinct Sci-Fi, visionary and tech theme, apparent in both the gallery build and the artworks exhibited.

The Name Narcissus - Gallery Identity

Narcissus, or daffodils, are some of the first flowers we see in springtime and are a great indicator that winter is over. Narcissi flowers are also seen to represent; creativity, inspiration, awareness and inner reflection, forgiveness, and vitality.

Narcissus was the son of the River God Cephissus and the nymph Liriope. He was an incredibly handsome young man who fell in love with his own image reflected in a pool of water

The Narcissus was a modified Lockmart Starcub light shuttle that served as one of two lifeboats aboard the USCSS Nostromo from the movie Alien. Warrant Officer Ellen Ripley used the Narcissus to escape the destruction of its parent vessel in 2122. Along with an uninvited guest onboard.

Built by Metaverse Builders references for the gallery build include 2001 Space Odyssey, the spaceship Narcissus from the movie Alien, Warhammer 40,000, Star Wars, Stargate and more. While some inspiration for the architectural design comes from the works of the spanish architect Santiago Calatrava and the Gardens by the Bay in Singapore. Inspiration also came from Burning Man art including orbs and geometries. The whale is a big symbol in the CryptoArt world and is animated and moving in the space to add to the sci-fi feel.
